Warhorse - S/T (Akarma, AK 205/2) UK 1970

Warhorse was formed in 1970 by former Deep Purple Bassist Nick Simper, Ged Peck (Guitar), Ashley Holt (Vocals), Marc Poole (Drums)and Rick Wakeman (Keyboard. Especially because because of Simper's Deep Purple-Past it didn't take them long to get a Record-Deal with Vertigo who released their self-titled Debut just the same year...until then Wakeman had already left the Band and later went on to become a Member of a big Rock-Group called Yes....some of you might know them ;)

Talking about Hardrock there is no other Way than calling this Record a Masterpiece - definetely one of the strongest Musical-Efforts a Member or former Member of Deep Purple ever was involved in.
Singing, Songwriting, Guitar, Hammond, Drums....can't find anything to criticize.
...sadly way to many People took notice of this Band and their two remarkable Albums.

Go ahead and listen to their crushing first Single St. Louis

or maybe Burning

and if you want to get a taste of Vulture Blood ...

Enjoy!

  1. This is one hell of a horse. Even so it is very depressed. It has seen a lot of gruelty during the last years in war. That is because it is a warhorse. It joined the army a few years ago. Now it realizes that all this killing it did is a real opprobrium. However the horse is going to kill the poor soul infront of it in the next ten seconds to fifteen minutes. It shows suicidal tendencies because of a post traumatic stress syndrome. The life in Iraq is not what it expected it to be.

  2. as you can see this horse is in war so it is a warhorse. the man and the horse who decided to leave behind his horse-family and became a warhorse have obviously been fighting against each other and are tired so they need a break... both feel a little bit fucked up but the horse should win that match-up
